It is now time for the 2020 NOTES campaign and I’m hoping that you’ll consider making a donation. This year the campaign runs until April 5th, 2020.

This will be my eighth year playing bass and my fourth year playing with the Elgin Youth Symphony. This year, I’ve played at the Jazz Showcase with my high school jazz band, I’ve played at Illinois State Music festival, and my jazz ensemble has gone to ISU, Purdue, and many other schools for competitions that we consistently place at. This year I was also granted the amazing opportunity to play bass in the pit orchestra for my high school’s musical, The Addams Family. I have gone and performed at the University of Iowa and worked with professors there with my Chamber orchestra as well. I play in the Youth Symphony, the highest orchestra in the EYSO. I am so thankful for my high school music programs and the EYSO have given me so many amazing opportunities.

To give you some background of the EYSO, it was founded in 1976, and it only consisted of one, full orchestra. This year, the EYSO is celebrating the 44rd season. It has five orchestras, a brass choir, two percussion ensembles and a chamber music program that supports nearly 400 students from fourth grade and all the way through college grade level. You can learn more about the EYSO by going to www.eyso.org.

A brief reminder about what the NOTES campaign is:

Each year at the EYSO, the students in the EYSO have a tuition we have to pay in order to participate in the programs. Tuition averages about $600 per student per year and depending on the orchestra that the student is in it could be more or less. Funds are needed to keep the student fees in a reasonable range and to offset the rising program costs. The money that the NOTES campaign produces goes towards the tuitions of the students and keeps the yearly tuition reasonable. All donations are tax deductible, as allowable by law.

I have set a personal fundraising goal of $100. Your donation will help me meet my goal and it will help everyone at the EYSO.

Once the NOTES campaign is completed, you will receive a donation acknowledgement statement from the EYSO for tax purposes. The NOTES campaign runs until April 5th, 2020.

Thanks very much for your support!
