$200 towards $200

EYSO is an orchestra consisting of musicians from all over. In EYSO, this year’s theme is MOVE! We explore the idea of movement and how it connects with music. This season specifically, we focus on ballet. I have not played much ballet music in the past so I’m glad I get a chance to explore new genres.

I am a part of the top group (Youth Symphony) among the five groups in the EYSO. Although, it can be exhausting to practice almost three hours every week on Sunday night, I do enjoy the time spent. We spend time learning, exploring and having a good time. Not only do we learn how to perform music, but also learn about the composers of the pieces. For me, I’ve learned to not only read notes from a page but develop better listening skills. Often, I think to myself, during the first measures what instruments should I be fitting in with? or which instrument has an important part right now? I’ve also been focusing on the smaller details in music that I have not noticed in the past. For example, I realize how dynamics can affect the mood of the music. That’s only the technical parts of what we do at EYSO. We also make sure to have a good laugh every weekend especially during discussions. I think one of the funniest moments was watching the entire orchestra trying to dance ballet. 😊

The reason the EYSO needs donations is because tuition only covers one third costs to run this great program. The donations from this fundraiser helps offset program fees and keeps tuition reasonable for everybody.

I’ve included this link to show you a peek of what happens on Sunday nights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sZZNBZ3Rmk&list=PLSs1_64TdMjZEqrsehP2mzFAUQmFb62r&index=9
