Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestras is collecting donations as part of our annual fundraising campaign: NOTES 2024. This campaign runs from March 24 to May 5, 2024.
Tuition covers only one-third of the total cost of each member’s participation in EYSO. Our NOTES campaign helps keep tuition reasonable and offsets program costs.
My friend was the one that introduced me to EYSO. We were in our school’s symphony orchestra, but being in an orchestra after it was over was something I never thought of doing. I saw EYSO as an opportunity to grow as a musician, so I decided to audition. It’s interesting to combine both band and orchestra instruments into one ensemble! Little did I know, I learned more than I would during a class in band. Being in both Sinfonia and Percussion Ensemble helped me gain more knowledge about percussion and how to apply it to Sinfonia and pieces at school. I’ve gotten to play genres of music that aren’t just your “generic band pieces”. I’ve pinpointed my weaknesses and learned to play more confidently. EYSO has players from many different districts, so I’ve made some friends that I’m always glad to see every Sunday practice!
