Hello! My name is Marie, and I am a violinist in Youth Symphony and the Chamber Music Institute. This is my first year in EYSO, but also in an outside-of-school ensemble. I started my classical music journey when I was 12, and so I was very nervous about stepping outside of my comfort zone. However, I wouldn’t have it any other way. The repertoire is challenging and difficult, but meeting the demands is rewarding and an incredible learning experience. Youth Symphony has offered me an exploration of uncharted territory of music: in terms of my personal technical abilities, as well as playing as an ensemble member. In my chamber trio, I am given the opportunity to explore music with a much more exposed role, and we all arrive to musical decisions on a personal level. Furthermore, EYSO has allowed me to experience playing the music I have grown to love. I never thought I would be able to militaristically perform a full Shostakovich symphony, or carefully blend into Arvo Pärt’s Silouan’s Song. My membership of EYSO has expanded my appreciation of music as well as my knowledge of my instrument. The profound musical education I have been exposed to this year would not be possible without this organization!

The EYSO is
collecting donations as part of our annual fundraising campaign: NOTES. This campaign runs from January 23 to
March 27.

The purpose of the campaign is to help keep tuition affordable for EYSO members by encouraging EYSO families to collect donations from friends, family, co-workers, neighbors--and you! All contributions to the EYSO are tax deductible, as allowable by law.

Would you, or someone you know, be willing to donate to EYSO?

This year, we are celebrating our 46th season with the theme FLIPPED! We have five orchestras, a brass choir, two percussion ensembles, a flute choir and a chamber music program with nearly 300 students from fourth grade through college. The mission of EYSO is to create a community of young musicians, enriching their lives and the lives of their families, schools, communities, and beyond, through the study and performance of excellent music. By supporting the NOTES campaign, you are impacting the lives of so many, including myself. You can learn more about us at EYSO.org.

Tuition covers only one-third of the total cost of each member’s participation in EYSO. Our NOTES campaign helps keep tuition reasonable and offsets program costs.

In addition to offsetting the cost of tuition, the generosity of people like you also helps to:

  • Provide a more diverse repertoire of music.
  • Purchase necessary resources including sheet music and instruments.
  • Allows EYSO to have a broader reach by offering innovative community programs.

Please consider donating to EYSO to help Youth Symphony meet its goal. More importantly, it will help benefit all student musicians in EYSO.

Once the NOTES campaign is completed, you will receive a donation acknowledgement from EYSO for tax purpose. The campaign concludes on Sunday, March 27.

Thanks very much for your support!
