The EYSO is collecting donations as part of our annual fundraising campaign: NOTES. This campaign runs from January 23 to March 27.

The purpose of the campaign is to help keep tuition affordable for EYSO members by encouraging EYSO families to collect donations from friends, family, co-workers, neighbors--and you! All contributions to the EYSO are tax deductible, as allowable by law.

My Story:

I am a junior in high school and this is my fourth year playing the flute in the EYSO, my third year in the Youth Symphony, and my first year in the Earl Clemens wind quintet. I have no hesitation in saying that my years in the Youth Symphony have had the most profound impact on myself as a musician and as a person. Not only has the experience helped me get over my performance anxiety, but the teaching methods of our director, Mr. Sheppherd, has helped me gain a greater understanding of classical music, and music in general. In fact, one of our current pieces, Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony, has become my favorite piece ever because of its musical intricacies and emotional depth (come see it in our March concert!) Moreover, the friendly environment comprising of students from numerous different schools and towns helped me come out of my shell a little bit socially, and I met some of my closest friends this year when I joined the Earl Clemens Wind Quintet. EYSO has been an incredibly fulfilling journey and I am so proud to be part of such a friendly and amazing community.

I have brought the lessons that I learned within EYSO with me to school, band, and all of the other activities that I am a part of. I want more than anything for others to be able to experience the same thing, which can be made possible by the support of the community.

Would you, or someone you know, be willing to donate to EYSO?

This year, we are celebrating our 46th season with the theme FLIPPED! We have five orchestras, a brass choir, two percussion ensembles, a flute choir and a chamber music program with nearly 300 students from fourth grade through college. The mission of EYSO is to create a community of young musicians, enriching their lives and the lives of their families, schools, communities, and beyond, through the study and performance of excellent music. By supporting the NOTES campaign, you are impacting the lives of so many, including myself. You can learn more about us at EYSO.org.

Tuition covers only one-third of the total cost of each member’s participation in EYSO. Our NOTES campaign helps keep tuition reasonable and offsets program costs.

In addition to offsetting the cost of tuition, the generosity of people like you also helps to:

  • Provide a more diverse repertoire of music.
  • Purchase necessary resources including sheet music and instruments.
  • Allows EYSO to have a broader reach by offering innovative community programs.

Please consider donating to EYSO to help Youth Symphony meet its goal. More importantly, it will help benefit all student musicians in EYSO.

Once the NOTES campaign is completed, you will receive a donation acknowledgement from EYSO for tax purpose. The campaign concludes on Sunday, March 27.

Thanks very much for your support!
