Hello, my name is Nathaniel Davison, and I am in the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO). I play the violin in the Philharmonia Orchestra and in a String Quartet called the Cardinal String Quartet in the Chamber Music Institute. Right now, we are doing our one and only financial campaign called the Notes Campaign.

Playing in the EYSO has been a great experience. Taking part in the Prelude, Sinfonia, and now being my second year with Philharmonia Orchestra has challenged my playing abilities and has made me a better violinist. This final year of EYSO has been like no other thanks to the pandemic, but even with it I have continued to enjoy playing with such talented and focused musicians in person. Our concert theme for the year has not only exposed me to composers and pieces I would otherwise not have the opportunity to play but has educated me on the role of music the roles it plays in creating myths and legends. Through this theme we get to play all kinds of music like the quick Creatures of Prometheus by Beethoven to the slower and grandiose The Creation by Hayden, all the way to the bombastic nature of Berlioz’s March to the Scaffold. With our new pieces from Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance, pieces from Peer Gynt’s great journey, and a lovely piece named Make Our Garden Grow from Leonard Bernstein.

The Notes Campaign helps supplement the entrance fee for every musician throughout the EYSO organization. I know that you are asked to support many worthy organizations and cause throughout the year, and I appreciate you considering a small financial gift to the EYSO through the Notes Campaign.

I have included a link to my member pages on the EYSO website where you can make a tax-deductible donation. We have been asked to have all donations collected by March 28, 2021 at the latest.
