$575 towards $500

Hi there!

By now you probably know that I am an avid young violinist, and I am part of a youth symphony orchestra called Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO). EYSO is a non-profit organization and relies on donations to keep its engines running! Now, some of you are past donors, and know what the EYSO is. If you forgot, or are new to this, please allow me to provide to you a quick recap. EYSO is a youth symphony orchestra that gives kids living in the suburbs of Chicago music opportunity. There are five different orchestras catering to different age groups and abilities. Primo is the introductory level, Prelude is for those in late elementary school and middle-school, Sinfonia is the first full symphonic orchestra, catering to intermediate to advanced middle-schoolers and high-schoolers, Philharmonia is another full symphonic orchestra for advanced middle-schoolers and high-schoolers, and Youth Symphony is for advanced high-schoolers, and I am in this one this year. Every year we have a theme that allows us to broaden our artistic horizons to more than just music, molding us to be better well rounded. Last year we explored movement, in our theme MOVE. This year our theme is Myths and Legends, which is interesting to me because I was a Greek mythology kid. So far we’ve explored “Origins” with our first concert. Now we are navigating the ins and outs of wanderings for our second concert “Wanderers”.

You might be wondering, “Why should I donate to this organization?” Well, please allow me to explain. I have been playing violin for a very long time and am very passionate about it. Prior to being in the EYSO, I had been in a few orchestras, but none provided me with the same energy and the experience EYSO has given me. EYSO has really helped to broaden my musical horizons. The feeling of coming together with other musicians with the same passion as you is one of the things I really love about EYSO. The conductors are also so experienced and share the same love for music as everyone in the orchestra. Your donations will keep the EYSO going so that many other girls and boys like me will get to share in these life-changing experiences like I did. Another thing your donation will go to is buying the music that we play. We’ve played some really fun repertoire this year, including my favorite, Mozart’s Magic Flute Overture. Your donations will help EYSO to be able to buy more music like this.

I hope that you now realize how important this organization is to me and why you should donate. You really don’t have to donate a large amount. Even five dollars will be a sufficient amount! Remember that each and every donation counts, no matter how large or small. Keep this in mind on whether you decide not to donate. I would love for everyone who receives this letter to donate something! It would really make a difference in providing music education in the area. Please remember that your donations are tax-deductible. I hope that you consider making a donation to the EYSO, this organization that I know and love.

Love,

Mina
